U.S. Department of Transportation Announces September 24 Meeting of the Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today announced that its Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee (ACPAC) will hold its next meeting virtually on September 24, 2020.  Notice of the meeting will appear in the Federal Register.

The ACPAC is charged with evaluating current aviation consumer protection programs and providing recommendations to the Secretary for improving them, as well as recommending any additional consumer protections that may be needed.  The National In-Flight Sexual Misconduct Task Force (Task Force) is an ACPAC subcommittee.  The September 24 ACPAC meeting will focus on: (1) the Task Force’s Report on Sexual Misconduct on Commercial Flights; (2) the transparency of airline ancillary service fees; and (3) involuntary changes to itineraries.

Attendance is open to the public subject to any technical and/or capacity limitations.  Members of the public may provide their views on the matters to be considered by the ACPAC by submitting written comments to the docket (DOT-OST-2018-0190) at https://www.regulations.gov.
